You are responsible for your OIL

From the Parable of the Ten Virgins: “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out” (Matt. 25:7) I bought a Craftsman lawn tractor a few months ago for $40 off FB Marketplace. The tractor looked solid but I bought it with the understanding that it did not run. No problem… for 40$ I knew I could get a used motor for little of nothing and have a tractor to pull the grandkids in a barrel train I plan to make. I pulled the motor and planned to tear it down and just rebuild this one. A Briggs & Stratton motor is not intended to run with zero oil; there was not a drop of oil in the motor. No oil, no running motor. In the same way, we are responsible, everyone, to keep the oil of the Spirit full in our lives. When we do not, things break and our life resembles this broken motor. The beauty is that it is not a loss, with some care and a few parts, soon it will be running like it was intended. For a friend: you are not so broken that Jesus can’t make things work for you again. Jesus can fix this! Get some oil!
